Explanation of the Speed system PARIS
Due to different morse code lengths of different characters, a given "classic" code speed of
Characters per Minute (CPM) or Words per Minute (WPM) would require a different dot length for a random text.
To avoid this problem the "PARIS" system is used.
"PARIS" speed in WPM is defined as the number of times the word "PARIS" is sent in one minute.
"PARIS" was chosen because it has the right number of dots and dashes to represent an average word length in morse code. It is exact 50 dot-units long and provides an easy base for calculations.
