28 June 2025, World Record Attempt At HAMRADIO FAIR 2025 Friedrichshafen / Germany

Yannis, YO8YNS, tried to break the RUFZXP Score and speed World Record on public stage at the HAMRADIO fair.

That was extremely difficult due to the strong background noise and the large numbers of public spectators in the hall. And only one attempt was planned. Most of us certainly would not even consider doing this und the given conditions. But he had this incredible confidance to do it anyway.

First, Frank (DL2CC), head of the German HST team, gave a brief introduction to the audience. Then Oliver (Z32TO), chairman of the IARU High Speed Telegraphy Working Group, and Mathias (DL4MM), co-author of RUFZXP and IARU International Referee, shared further insights and supervised the attempt.
Then Yannis went straight into it.

And he DID it! 395,191 points with a speed of 1160 cpm (232 wpm)! Not a single call sign was below 100 cpm—amazing!

This was truly a historic moment. The GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS has promised to include it in the official records!
